Titre:
FID for the naive

Abstract/Résumé: The naïve view of FID would say that the syntax and semantics of FID sentences is just what we would imagine independently of FID; what is special about FID has to do with principles that govern our use of these syntactic structures and semantic values. I will spell out a version of the naïve view on which the pragmatics of FID mimics a well-known proposal about the semantics of standard indirect discourse due to Kaplan. I will indicate where it faces difficulties.
